When the opportunity arose to purchase the Cenex gas station in Oakes, Matt and Brenda Hill, along with Scott and Becky Wood of Oakes, felt it was important to keep the ownership local and made their purchase of Tornado Stop in January of 2019.
Since then, the owners have made a lot of changes in order to enhance the experience for their customers. They renovated the bathrooms, moved the sales counter to help the flow of traffic, and installed all new cabinetry. They also relocated and increased the kitchen size to allow for additional ovens, fryers, and washing stations, as well as installed a new ventilation system. They finished off their remodel by putting in new flooring throughout the entire store.
Soon after, Tornado Stop also added two new food franchises: Champs Chicken and Hangar 54 Pizza. Both have been well received by the community and customers know that they can count on Tornado Stop daily for good, hot, fresh, and hand-breaded chicken as well as homemade pizza. They also offer a variety of other food and snack options to delight their customers. One of the owners, Scott Wood, who is heavily involved in the food side of the business, loves to try out new recipes that offer a fun twist to their regular food offerings.
At Tornado Stop, they have made it their goal to provide top quality service to the community of Oakes and the surrounding areas. Their customers are their number one priority and it shows. They have a strong team of dedicated employees who share in their mission to make everyone’s day a little better and brighter than it was before they stopped in the store.
Whether you looking to grab something tasty to eat, fill up your tank, or satisfy your sweet tooth (did I mention freshly baked caramel rolls), the Tornado Stop in Oakes has you covered. Stop in and check out their offerings for yourself!
