2022 has seen its share of volatility in not only the stock market but also the bond market. It has many people feeling a little uneasy about their finances. One of the common things I hear is, "Should I pull money out and wait a bit?" No one has a crystal ball to tell us when things will head the other direction, so this is not something simple to answer. During the 2008 and 2020 corrections, when clients were asking about getting out, the question I often asked them was, "What is your reentry strategy?"
Downturns in the market can cause people to panic and oftentimes investors only think about getting out and neglect to think about when they are going to get back in. That is not to say that adjustments cannot be made but we want to focus on our goals. There are always going to be bumps in the road so it is important to make sure our overall financial plan remains in place.
